ABOUT ANNI
Anni (they/them)
pronounced AH-nee (th-AY / th-EM)
Anni is a mover, shaker, and maker in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Creativity and connectedness - to our(whole)selves and to others - are acts of resistance, and Anni oozes both in everything they do.
Life looks entirely different for Anni than it did pre-COVID. Beginning with (unintentionally at first) leaving the religious subculture of their upbringing, they began a journey into authenticity. They found somatic and embodiment work and learned to listen to their body with the presence and guidance of somatic practitioners. This led to greater self-awareness of unhelpful patterns they were defaulting to for survival. They have learned to love and value themselves for who they really are in the process and this led to making big relational and career changes, coming out as queer/nonbinary/trans, recognizing their neurodivergence, leaning away from a nuclear family model and into tight-knit chosen family and community. And most of all, it has led to transformational joy, vibrance, confidence, increased capacity to manage the hard stuff of life, and a magnetism that other people can feel.
Somatic awareness and practices have been life-changing for Anni, and they are gifted at holding space for clients. They gently, creatively, and powerfully support and guide folx as they find their way into greater embodiment and authenticity.
Anni’s approach to client work is based on connection. Ten years as a birth doula and birth photographer journeying alongside and supporting families during transformational life seasons taught Anni the importance of finding a good personality and energetic fit with your practitioner. They offer free 30-minute consultations so you can ask questions, begin to get to know them, and do a vibe check.
Anni also facilitates group events around Grand Rapids focused on creativity, authentic connection, and community building.
Ceramics, watercolor painting, and graphic art are Anni’s favorite mediums at the moment. Every winter, during cozy season, they hyperfocus on something new (like embroidery, felting, or crochet).
Their emotional support guitar goes with them everywhere they go and they generally can be found humming or singing.
Art is resistance.
Music is resistance.
Embodiment is resistance.
